Many reports are coming in about people being shot, tear gassed, having chemically altered water spilled on them from helicopters and of course many stories of the riot cops and Basij beating people with nightsticks.
CNN has footage of a young woman who was shot by a Basiji who was shotting from the roof of a civilian house, she was a bystander standing with her father, and she was shot through the heart. She died on camera within minutes. She was 16 and she had nothing to do with the protests. It seems her name was Neda, which I am told means voice.
Right now, there are reports and video of the Basij invading peoples' homes and dragging them out. Before today there were reports of upwards 5,000 people who have been arrested. Hundreds have been tallied in the death count. Today it is unknown. The Evin prison, where political prisoners and the protesters are, is no longer giving reports on the condition of the prisoners health.
The riot cops and Basiji have been going to hospitals and dragging out the injured and arresting them. One police chief begged people to give up and go home and they responded by throwing rocks and crying out for him and his people to join him.
Many, many videos are being posted of people bleeding and carrying bloodied bodies and the dead. Most of the videos are coming from Tehran but reports are coming in that this is happening in most of the big cities. The worst seems to be Isafan.
There is a video of a group of protesters in which they get dispersed but the riot cops come and terrorize these women in front of these gates of Shiraz? University. These women covered in the Chador vields are held up against the iron gates and these Basij come and wave the batons in front of them, hit the iron gates (you can hear the ring of metal echoing) and on occasions hit the women as well. The citizen journalist videotaping this can be heard screaming at the cops to stop this (I gather this is what he is saying) as he simultaneously is trying to record this and hide.
news.arsonplus.com This website has a lot of videos.
demotix This is straight from Iran and there is albums full of pictures. One of the journalists got beaten.
Update Daily Kos Mainly photos but with videos
In all of the videos you can hear the resolve to continue with the protests as they scream out Allah o Akbar and "Death to the dictator" over and over again as well as the fear and anger they hold.
On Twitter it got passed around that the European embassies were accepting the injured. As far as I know, no pictures or videos have come to light of this, but I gather that since it was later reported on twitter that the cops and Basij were blocking the embassies, that this was true.
On twitter there is tweet being passed around: "On 9/11, the world said we were all Americans. Tonight, we are all Iranians."
