Supporting Iran (06/15/2009)

I first posted this on my personal journal on June 15, 2009.

I wasn't sure if you guys knew this but things have escalated in Iran. There is word being spread on #IranElection that the police have been given permission to use gunfire.

So it seems that not only the paramilitary volunteer nutjobs but also the cops will shooting the protesters.

A call out has been given on twitter for people to change their avatar/profile to Green to show their support. I found an old icon from 2007 StrikeThrough that I felt was fitting and so I uploaded it.

There is also a call out for people to change their location to Tehran, Iran in order to confuse the govt hunting down the citizen journalists reporting. There is also one pages and websites posting information on how to set up a proxy server for the Iranians to use so that they might still have a voice.

The US govt shouldn't say which side won, but they should support those who need help, and we as citizens should make our voices heard on where we stand. The GOP wants this to fail in order for Obama to not get uppity have hope that diplomacy will work.

Since Obama's great speech in Cairo on Muslim relations with the United States the Hezbollah collation lost Lebanon in the elections to the pro-western one and Iran's people have risen up in a call for freedom.

Change is in the air and we must support the people want freedom of speech, equal rights and freedom from tyranny.
